#12 reflection and evaluation

Wow, I finished with time to spare. I really enjoyed this learning experience. I loved learning Flickr,Picasa, You Tube and movie maker. I will use these at home to keep pictures of my family.

I probably won't do much tagging at this time, but it was good to learn about it.

I think Wikiworld is great and could be helpful at home and work.

I enjoy the Chatting and Instant messaging. Saves time.

I enjoyed all I learned and will be looking forward to any other online classes offered.

Thank you

#11 Podcasting

One thing I like about Podcasting is that time doesn't matter. Being able to download things to your mp3 player and other devices is a plus with this also.

I have several speakers I like to listen to on a weekly basis and it is so easy to go to the website and listen. Since this is similar to a radio, but with you being able to control it, I could see where families could use this. I thought about working with spelling words this way. Your child could lay in bed and listen to them before falling asleep each night. What about time tables, etc.

I didn't find anything when searching for our library. Since most people like visual things, our library might use that method more.

#10 This Wiki World

I have looked at Wikipedia many times for information.

This is useful when working with several people. It saves time working together but in separate locations. You could work together without calling meetings. This would be useful for students working as a group on papers.

I don't think our library is using this now, but I could see where it could be helpful.

#9 Chat and Instant Messaging

I have use both the chat and instant messaging features before. They are so mush easier and faster than e-mail.

I like being able to see who is online when I am.

Our library offers Ask a Librarian on our Webpage and this is helpful for students in the dorms. With busy schedules this is a quick and easy way to talk without using a phone. I am sure we will see this feature being used more as time goes by.

#8 social networking

I have used facebook and think it can make your life a open book. I was surprised at how easy it was to look at pictures of people I am not signed on as friend to. I could go to someone I am signed up with as friends and just look at the list of their friends and click on one and search their photos.

This I feel could put teens at danger.

As for using it as a library I think it could help to bring students in. You could promote fun things that are happening in your library. We pass out candy at Holloween and cookies during reading days and putting pictures up would be nice. It shows we are a friendly place to be.

I have never used MySpace and felt it was used by younger people. I might make an account just to see the difference first hand.

I do feel the need to keep your professional and personal lives separate. This way you don't need to worry about censoring everything you write. Today things can be taken out of context and you leave yourself open. Not only is technology different but the world we live in is changing. MySpace and Facebook are only fun if you know you are keeping safe.

# 7 Tagging

Social Bookmarking-Delicious was a new concept to me. I have noticed where people have put tags on thier pictures and you know the name of each person, or something about each picture so you might know when and where it was taken. I find this helpful.

I didn't make a delicious account but enjoyed seeing how other libraries were using this form of tagging. I do like how neat it makes the page look and how easy it is to use. I could see this being used in the classroom. If a group of people were working on a project it would be an easy way to keep track of the work being done and everyone would have access to what the others were doing.

Method 6

Youtube was fascinating. Our library has used this and the students enjoy it. I think that this is a great way to send news items and family videos. I think I will try to use this on facebook when I have more time to practice with it.

I enjoyed the Teacher Tube and can see where this would be handy for schools. Younger children are often bored with textbooks and we have taught them that visual things are fun.

In offices these can be used for training purposes also. As our world is changing around us, I can see this becoming even more popular in the future.
